I’m not entirely sure which aspect of the farm I love the most, but I’m certain that a significant part of it is the freedom to roam around. I suppose I can go into the house and no one notices me. Believe it or not, I enjoy being incognito. In fact, I think sometimes Nancy’s brothers forget that I’m even present until I am. They’ll never admit it, but I think they almost view me like a human visitor when they realize I’m there. By now, if they are even reading this, they are mesmerized that I often know what humans are thinking.

Nancy needs to practice her saxophone or bassoon. It seems like she’s holding a lot of emotions inside these days, and if she doesn’t express them through her instruments, I fear she might explode. I truly see her, really see her, and sometimes, she simply enters a private room and lets out a torrent of tears. Then, she says she plays even a phrase of music and it brings her back to a healthy perspective. I like to think I help her, just to be there. I can’t let her go and vise versa.
I’ve been feeling incredibly awesome lately. I don’t dwell on the future; instead, I embrace the present moment. I need to remind my human companions to do the same. How did I end up with a philosopher of sorts, rather than just a simple human? Why was I assigned a musician anyway? Lastly, how can I help them gain a better perspective?
P.S. I did get my ears trimmed one inch yesterday after this photo. I guess Nancy realized that I don’t like eating my food stuck in my ears!
