May 27, 2026 Greg’s Hospital Visit, ETC.
Once again, I accompanied Nancy to the hospital to visit Greg. He’s recovering from cellulitis, which was quite frightening for the first few days. While he naps, I’ll at least start my blog. There were several days when the head nurse adamantly refused to allow dogs. Today’s nurse, however, was more accommodating, and here I am, with my human companions in the hospital. Apparently, hospitals become quite dull without me around. Since Greg wasn’t entertaining the nurses and staff, I had to rely on my natural charm, which Nancy claims comes quite naturally to me.
During Greg’s physical therapy sessions, we decided to take a leisurely stroll through the hospital. Right in front of the gift shop, we stumbled upon a delightful pair of human pajamas that proclaimed, “I like dogs more than people.” Since Nancy is a bit of a penny pincher, I couldn’t resist taking a photo. But in my defense, there wasn’t a picture of a standard poodle on the pajamas, so it’s their loss. Of course, I’m not going to complain because, hey, they allowed me to charm people in the hospital, not to critique their gift shop!

We’re all home now! Nancy has been listening to a series of audio tapes each morning, which has helped her maintain her perspective during this challenging time with Greg’s illness. There is one human saying that I actually like and it goes like this. “Be kind to people because you don’t know their story and you don’t know what they’re dealing with.” by Jeff Foxworthy. I’m quite certain you’ve heard similar quotes like this before. I think about the quote when I see people at the hospital or when they visit us at home.
Of course, I understand what Nancy is going through because she shares her feelings with me, and I’m a good listener. The only part I can share is that she genuinely wants to play her saxophone and bassoon much more because it’s an integral part of how she ultimately deals with life. However, playing with her saxophone and bassoon students doesn’t count as her own playing and practicing.
Anyway, we’re finally home! I want to express my deepest gratitude to an exceptional doctor at the hospital. Dr. C. was incredibly excellent, compassionate, and simply a wonderful person.
