Personally, I’ve learned from experience that whenever Nancy brings home a bag of lemons, she bakes her Lemon Crinkle Cookies. Since her neighbors and friends love them, she’s planning to make more today, especially for her brother-in-law Pat, who has a birthday this week. (And, because he likes my blog! Thanks, Pat!)
This past weekend, when Nancy ran out of lemons, she decided to try a King Arthur Baking recipe for Spritz Spice Cookies. I couldn’t help but wonder why she would ruin her famous Spritz Cookies by adding spice to them. Her explanation made sense: “Well, I want to bring cookies to that lovely couple near us. The retired farmer walks by our house all the time. I was simply out of lemons to make more lemon cookies.”
Long story short, she made the spice cookies and took them over to that adorable couple. Included in her cookie giveaway were a few Lemon Crinkle Cookies. So when she received a text that the cookies were great, especially the lemon cookies, she knew Greg was right. The spritz spice cookies were a dud.
Nancy has two new things that she can’t resist buying: lemons for humans and my famous Trader Joe’s beef sticks for me. I’m not worried about the lemons, even though they almost appear the size of my famous orange balls. The smell of lemons don’t interest me! So, I’ll stay on the couch while she makes another batch of her Lemon Crinkle Cookies. Oh brother!
At least her Spritz Spice Cookies were decorated to honor veterans for Memorial Day. I’ll advise people to admire them but not eat them. Haha!
