May 1, 2026

May Day is a new concept for me. There’s a lot of history behind the term “May Day,” but I’ll focus on its association with the beginning of spring.  Even I knew that when I spotted a bag of lemons on our kitchen table, spring had arrived! You see, I know that a bag of lemons signifies Nancy’s upcoming endeavor to grate them for lemon zest in her Lemon Crinkle Cookies. Of course, this is after she  finds her new tool from King Arthur Baking Company for grating lemons.  Where did she put it last fall?  Voila, she found it!
Her freshly brewed coffee, made with farm water, is almost finished, while her day-old coffee is nearly gone. I think she needs at least two cups of coffee before she starts grating those lemons. Otherwise, the process of grating those lemons will definitely “grate on her nerves”!   I guess that is the only tedious part of making those cookies. While the Lemon Crinkle cookie dough rests in the refrigerator for several hours, she also prepares oatmeal chocolate chip cookies for the May Day bag treats. Naturally, I assist her in delivering them to neighbors and other friends.
It’s already evening, and I haven’t finished writing my blog yet. I’ve realized why Nancy baked all those cookies today. She bakes marathon batches of cookies  when she’s procrastinating making a decision or is troubled by something. I do what I do best and simply support her. She even stayed up late last night to watch the Minnesota Timberwolves basketball game. Greg, who doesn’t like basketball, went to bed, so we watched this new game for me together. Whoa, I realized I love basketball too! I could have been an amazing basketball player, don’t you think?!   So, between baking and watching basketball games, some important life decisions were procrastinated until at least Monday.  At least her decisions don’t involve me or Greg! Well, not directly anyhow.   Please don’t ask her about this “decision” because I am kind of just rambling now.  I am just here to love my humans and help them through WHATEVER!
