Yesterday, I had the privilege to make a random elderly man really smile.  He smiled so big that he began to laugh.   When was the last time that you were able to see someone look so lonely to almost jumping out of their chair?  As we emerged from the elevator, just before reaching the exit doors, this charming old  man remarked,  “Your dog is so pretty!”  Nancy turned to me and asked, “Okay, Harmony, would you like to say hello?” Never miss a chance to stop and greet an obviously kind person. In other words, I certainly don’t waste my time with those who are skeptical about pet therapy. I can detect non-dog people from across a room as quickly as you can say, “Oh Harmony!”

It all started  with a simple  trip to the clinic for Greg’s dermatologist appointment.  Not only did we check in, but the lovely receptionist came from behind her desk to greet  me.   You see, by now, no one asks if I am a therapy dog; I just prance through the clinics and hospitals wherever I go.   Even the Dermatologist couldn’t help but comment on my charming personality (her words, not mine), and you guessed it, Nancy couldn’t resist bragging about me.

At one time, the church where Nancy rents space for teaching music  lessons allowed her to bring her dog. However, after the new pastor and staff arrived, they no longer permitted any dog  to accompany her.  I suppose it’s okay because I wasn’t the one who accompanied her back then. It was mostly Serenade because she was quieter than my boisterous brother, Louie.   We don’t miss something if we never had it, right?    So, dear humans don’t even go there with thinking “if only I would have done this or that…….”      Now, go have a lovely day and make someone smile!
