Looking Forward to Autumn, Day 5, October 15, 2025
There is nothing quite like playing fall ball. In today’s day 5 of Looking Forward to Autumn, I encourage all of you to play some fall ball before the snow flies. As you can see in the photo, I was playing ball when the ball was thrown into the “foul” ball area. But, no worries, I sprang into action and caught it. How do you like our foul ball line groomed by the lawn mower?
I am certain that you remember that I play catch all the time. However, when we actually play real baseball, I’m only able to be designated to the outfield because, well, I can’t navigate the batting. I suppose I could be called into to be the designated runner, but we don’t get that serious about our baseball games here. I wonder why we don’t trying playing “hot box” at our home? Greg and Nancy could throw the ball between themselves and of course, I would be the runner. Hmmmm……I will have to discuss this with them to try!
This brings me to another thought for the day. What do you do when you simply can’t do a certain task or someone tells you that it is impossible? Nancy says that growing up between six brothers taught her that she can do anything she sets her mind to. For instance, when an electrical engineer told her she could never get an extra-class Amateur Radio license (Ham Radio) she persevered, studied the questions and got her license before any of those guys. She does add this note to that gloating story, “I was not proud of memorizing the answers to that 550 question pool and not understanding most of what I memorized!” Unlike humans, I don’t waste my time thinking about what I can not do, I just am present for each moment.
