Looking Forward to Autumn, Day 4, October 10, 2025
My adorable neighbor children suddenly appeared, and I wasn’t even thinking about my fourth day of Looking Forward to Autumn. It was a typical lawn mowing day, and as usual, I found myself outside, engaged in the two-hour task of playing fetch for the two-hour job duration. Just like dogs can tense up cool people, children often sense friendly dogs, and I suppose it helps that Nancy was with me. I heard her tell them that she would make sure I wouldn’t knock them over, and I thought, “Seriously, I wouldn’t do that!”
I felt safe playing with these adorable kids when the cute little girl climbed into Nancy’s lap. These two toddlers were truly sweet. For a toddler, the little girl did an impressive job throwing the ball for me. Her cute little 16 month old brother was so brave when I went up to him. While he did not throw the ball, he seemed intrigued by my presence. I was sad when Nancy exclaimed that she better continue the lawn mowing.
So, for day four of Looking Forward to Autumn, I suggest taking some time to savor the beautiful weather. We seemed to take a bit longer to mow the lawn today. I understand that Nancy also needed a distraction from the adorable kids interrupting our lawn mowing task. Yes, I write my dog blog from my perspective, and I believe the sweet and adorable children helped both myself and Nancy put things into perspective today. It has been a challenging week for Nancy, but today, she was able to set aside some time to play with the kids and regroup her thoughts.
