Looking Forward to Autumn: October 3, 2025
I believe it’s high time we had a series on Looking Forward to Autumn from a dog’s perspective. For instance, while I spent a few hours playing fetch with Nancy outside today while she was mowing the lawn, I couldn’t help but crave cooler weather. Perhaps it’s because my beautiful hair coat is growing quite long again. Either the weather needs to become significantly cooler, or I urgently need a haircut.

I love the early mornings because of the cooler temperatures. I suppose one knows they are a true Minnesotan when they welcome the cooler weather. Now, it’s already been a few days since the lawn was mowed. To make matters worse, the days are predicted to be record-breaking high temperatures just when I was starting my Looking Forward to Autumn series. You know what this means, don’t you? Oh yes, I will be getting groomed this weekend. Just in time for the cooler weather that will follow next week.
I eagerly anticipate an autumn filled with cooler temperatures, even though my coat will become shorter. I can already hear Nancy, who will be shaving my coat. “Harmony, don’t worry, we have all sorts of dog sweaters and coats!” That’s what happens when you’re the seventh standard poodle that has lived with my companions. I don’t mind hand-me-downs, unless they bring too much attention to me.
The order of standard poodles at our home is: Calvin, Eve, Oliver, Allegro, Louie, and Serenade. Now you know why my blog is called Lighthearted Louie. I suppose it could have also have been Sophisticated Serenade followed by my choice of Harmonious Harmony. Talk about getting off of the subject! Since we are on the subject of “cool” why not mention all of my relatives, while some are distant relatives.
Have a cool day!
