Harmony’s Blog: Day 7 of Looking Forward to Autumn, October 29, 2025

By the time I finish my Looking Forward to Autumn series, winter will be here! I discovered this weekend that we’ll be setting our clocks back one hour. This means the sun will rise earlier, allowing us to go for a walk by 8:00 instead of 9:00. I’m really looking forward to that!  While other dogs (and humans) will be totally confused and annoyed, I have been given proper notification of this upcoming change. Besides, it’s not like we get…

Looking Forward to Autumn, Day 6, October 22, 2025

Yesterday, while  sitting on the deck with Greg, he pointed out to me one red leaf on our maple tree.  Today, we saw the red leaf in the grass.   You guessed it, we are looking forward to autumn for the colors. I am quite certain that some lovely country drives are in the plans these next weeks.  We sat outside for quite some time until we could not tolerate the ladybugs for one more minute.    OK, I have…

Looking Forward to Autumn, Day 5, October 15, 2025

There is nothing quite like playing fall ball.    In today’s day 5  of Looking Forward to Autumn, I encourage all of you to play some fall ball before the snow flies.    As you can see in  the photo, I was playing ball when the ball was thrown into the “foul” ball area.   But, no worries, I sprang into action and caught it.     How do you like our foul ball line groomed by the lawn mower? I am…

Looking Forward to Autumn, Day 4, October 10, 2025

My adorable neighbor children suddenly appeared, and I wasn’t even thinking about my fourth day of Looking Forward to Autumn. It was a typical lawn mowing day, and as usual, I found myself outside, engaged in the two-hour task of playing fetch for  the two-hour job duration. Just like dogs can tense up cool people, children often sense friendly dogs, and I suppose it helps that Nancy was with me. I heard her tell them that she would make sure…

Looking Forward to Autumn, Day 3, October 7, 2025

As I gazed up at the sky recently, I noticed subtle shifts in color.  The color changes in the Minnesota landscapes are undoubtedly a lovely event.  Needless to say, we all look forward to the color symphony!   While I’m sad to see some of our perennial flowering bushes transitioning to their winter hues, I appreciate  how the orchestration of color is conducted toward the trees.    We planned to attend a Fall Festival to select more pumpkins and vibrant…

Looking Forward to Autumn, Day 2, October 4, 2025

It’s fortunate that we took our walk before noon today. The weather forecast predicts a high temperature of 86 degrees Fahrenheit in Minnesota on October 4th. This aligns with my second day of “Looking Forward to Autumn,” a celebration of the beauty of autumn walks. While I enjoy walks anytime, I particularly relish observing the ever-changing color palette during our walks, as no two days offer the same breathtaking canvas. One new development is the paving of a walk pathway…

Looking Forward to Autumn: October 3, 2025

I  believe it’s high time we had a series on Looking Forward to Autumn from a dog’s perspective. For instance, while I spent a few hours playing fetch with Nancy outside today while she was mowing the lawn, I couldn’t help but crave cooler weather. Perhaps it’s because my beautiful hair coat is growing quite long again. Either the weather needs to become significantly cooler, or I urgently need a haircut. I love the early mornings because of the cooler…
