Today, I witnessed something that I’ve never seen Nancy do before.   She loaded the entire back of the truck with logs that were brought from our old residence. She mentioned that lifting the logs is like doing the free weights for her workout today.  I felt utterly helpless as I watched her.  She must have realized that I was feeling useless because she said to me, “Hey Harmony, thanks for watching me and being my moral support!” As usual, she went on a long tangent about when her Dad had congestive heart failure. He would express how he felt so bad that he could no longer do much around the farm.  All her father needed was a gentle reminder that he was irreplaceable, whether he engaged in physical activities or offered his wise counsel. He could continue to be a steadfast prayer warrior for his entire family.

Yesterday, we not only pulled a lot of weeds but also began cutting back the hosta plants.  (OK, once again I supervised.) To her surprise, she found one of her missing socks in the hosta that had disappeared for several weeks  when she had set it on the deck rail.   Nancy found one of the socks below the deck, but she initially thought an animal or bird had taken the other one.  When the sock was full of creepy worms and had a hole in it, she decided to throw it away. She really wanted to save the cool sock, but I don’t blame her after worms were devouring it. Yuk!

Talk about real life happenings, huh!  While some of you may find working out in the yard, moving logs, pulling weeds, and trimming hostas mundane, we were content simply being together.
