August 29, 2025: My Own Quotes

As I reflected on life today, I had a thought: perhaps I should begin recording my own quotes. I suppose this idea came to me after a series of adventures to Greg’s doctor’s appointments recently.  While I often receive comments like, “Your dog is so well-behaved” and “She is so calm and pretty,” I genuinely appreciate it when people ask, “May I pet your dog?”    That’s my only attempt to look into someone’s eyes and desperately connect with them on a deeper level.   That leaves you with my first quote directly from me.   Hold on to those first encounters with your humans or pets by searching their eyes for an open door into their heart/soul.

When I enter a room, I can almost imagine that some onlookers are unsure of how to respond to me.  Gosh, I suppose some don’t really look at me and think to themselves, “she is just a dog!” but rather, “hmmmmm…..”she is a unique dog” or something like that.   I suppose it doesn’t help that Nancy treats me better than most humans treat their own kind. (I really did say that, didn’t I?) My next quote for you is this: Be yourself no matter what, and those who see your true beauty will indeed reflect their own beauty.

I’ve been helping Nancy out by being her spotter while she trims some trees.   So far, no branches have fallen on me and so far, she has not fallen off her ladder.  She mentioned that she needs to complete one more round to collect branches from higher elevations, which necessitates the use of a tool that can extend further up.    The other night, a neighbor  walking by our house  gave us a break when I ran to visit her.   Sometimes I find that people act as if I don’t even exist.   For those times, I simply sit and listen and learn. My final quote for this week is simple: don’t dwell on the people or pets who don’t seem to acknowledge your existence, but instead, think good thoughts for them anyway. They may sense your non-judgmental vibes.
