August 29, 2025: My Own Quotes

August 29, 2025: My Own Quotes

As I reflected on life today, I had a thought: perhaps I should begin recording my own quotes. I suppose this idea came to me after a series of adventures to Greg’s doctor’s appointments recently.  While I often receive comments like, “Your dog is so well-behaved” and “She is so calm and pretty,” I genuinely appreciate it when people ask, “May I pet your dog?”    That’s my only attempt to look into someone’s eyes and desperately connect with them…

August 23, 2025, Waiting Room Encounters

When I get into the car, I’m often left wondering where our journey will take us.  So, yesterday when we arrived at a medical building, it was just like any other day.  Now, Nancy doesn’t even bother to ask if I can accompany them to certain places. No one has ever questioned us when I prance by. However, on the way out to the car yesterday, a woman walked past us with an angry look, and Nancy said to her,…

Missed Trip to Ophthalmologist, August 19, 2025

Missed Trip to Ophthalmologist, August 19, 2025

People usually don’t take their dogs to an ophthalmologist, so I was left home alone today while they went to see their Ophthalmologist. It was a 128 mile round trip. Of course, they must realize that they could have at least invited me to sit in the lobby. Perhaps if I act perplexed when Nancy throws the orange ball next time, they’ll allow me to accompany Nancy to the ophthalmologist to have my eyesight checked as well? Before they left…

August 15, 2025, Weed Wisdom

This week has been incredibly busy, and I’ve chosen not to share most of the details in this blog.  It’s not that there’s anything wrong, but some things simply don’t make it into my blog.   However, I must confess that there’s one activity  that genuinely perplexes me.  Ready?   On the side of our house is a strip for parking cars or whatever covered with rock.   Weeds sprout up much faster than anyone can imagine, although I rarely…

It all happened so quickly. One minute I was playing fetch, and the next, I was getting my coat shaved. I suppose it was better to be surprised today than to listen to Nancy talk about it for days.  Thankfully, Nancy has three number five razor blades, so whenever one blade got too hot, she switched to the cooler one. My shower today was  truly a welcome respite after all that hair removal.   Thankfully, the breeze outside was quite…

“Sometimes,’ said Pooh, ‘the smallest things take up the most room in your heart.”  A.A. Milne’s quotes continue to resonate with me because his simple wisdom is incredibly profound.  For instance, before I have my morning meal, Nancy looks into my eyes and exclaims, “You are such a good dog, Harmony!”  It isn’t just what she says to me, it is her love for me I see in her eyes.   Reflect on the most special moments in your life and…

I’ve noticed that Nancy is as particular about her coffee as I am about my dog treats. When Costco had Peet’s coffee beans on sale, she stocked up for a few months, and her mornings were filled with bliss.   A few years ago, she purchased a three-pound can of ground coffee that she described as horrible. However, being a farm girl, she couldn’t bear the thought of throwing it away.    I figure you are already guessing how this…
