As you may recall, yesterday, on Saturday, it was extremely hot. As usual, when Nancy decides to mow the lawn, I’m granted permission to accompany her, though with a very loose leash. Now I understand why she has that long leash attached to me; yesterday, I chased a rabbit and killed it. When she saw I had caught a rabbit, she yelled, “Leave it!” She stopped mowing and took me inside the house. After she said “NO” to me about the rabbit, she didn’t really scold me because it’s a natural instinct for us to chase rabbits. Well, I’m not stupid, and I knew her tears while she was telling Greg about the dead rabbit were because of my decision to chase and kill it.
Instead of being outside with Nancy, I watched the Minnesota Twin’s baseball game with Greg. Remember, the scorching heat and humidity made me quite indifferent to this change in events. Usually, when Nancy mows the lawn, she doesn’t take a break. However, yesterday, she came in for her energy drink when the score was 4-1, not in the Twin’s favor. So, she sat telling us that we should have been cheering more and started talking to the players on the TV as if they could hear her. To our shock, Clemens tied up the game at 5 with a homer that brought in 3 runs. Off Nancy went saying “OK, I can go mow some more since the Twin’s listened to me!” Oh brother…..isn’t it bad enough that she calls herself a dog whisperer, now she claims she is a baseball whisperer too!
She mowed again until the humidity brought her back in the house for one more propel drink. This time when she saw that the score was still tied, she plopped down in “her” chair and started motivating them again. After Brooks Lee decided to bunt in the bottom of the ninth and sending the winning run in with Buxton. That Buxton, he even outruns me. I don’t know who was gloating more , the Twin’s team or Nancy after her cheering fixed it all once again.
I’m certain that today, while I’m outside, I won’t be able to sneak off and chase rabbits because the lawn mowing distraction is over. Instead, I’ll probably be watching another Twin’s game with my family. Actually, I’ll be watching Nancy coach the baseball team through the TV. I think she told me that her enthusiasm for baseball was inherited from her Grandma. Her Grandma was always yelling at Harmon Killebrew. I wonder if my Mom and blood relatives were rabbit chasers?
The photo was taken by Greg when I asked if he could stop Nancy from shouting to the Twin’s on the TV.
