Memorial Day: Day Three, A Week’s Worth of a Daily Dose of Peace
Today, since it’s Memorial Day in America, I’ve decided to set aside my prepared Daily Dose of Peace for another day. Instead, I want to express my gratitude to all the men, women and dogs who have sacrificed their lives to serving our country, ensuring that we have peace in our nation. This concept is far too profound for me to fully comprehend. I can’t even fathom the reasons behind conflicts or the avoidance of peace. Remember, I am a rather sheltered dog! If I even sense any conflict in our home, I soon help my humans put everything in perspective.
In an article written by Oliver Nelson, he shares that dogs not only comfort people in their family homes, but some also comfort people in the military. https://www.dogster.com/lifestyle/memorial-day-tribute-to-military-dogs “They’re loyal, heroic, and offer great comfort to those around them. We salute military dogs.” Also, included in the webpage is a beautiful poem titled “Guardians of the Night” with heart-warming photos of dogs and their soldiers. Gosh, I have it so much easier in serving my humans in this home than those military dogs.
I do know that my host for this website served our country, so thank you so much Andy! For all of my readers who served, I thank you too! Every Memorial Day at 3:00, people are to pause for at least one minute to remember and mourn all Veterans who have died serving their country. While the TAPS are played on trumpet, I think Nancy will play the TAPS at a park on saxophone. The photo I found was back in 2022 and I was sitting with Greg behind her so I am not in the photo.
