Some things in life are simply not meant to be! If you search my first thought today, you’ll find a plethora of writing and quotes about this very sentence. Since I steer clear of politics and religion on my blog, I’d like to share my personal theory on this subject. Just when we thought we were making progress on all our tasks ahead, the kitchen partially flooded. Nancy noticed that the left side of the sink pump had a broken seal. She collected the names of reputable plumbers from her kind neighbors. Then, they continued their trip to a friend’s memorial, which was over an hour away.
We traveled to the farm numerous times to work on that massive walk-behind Toro lawn mower. I believe it’s almost certain that it will be permanently dead. Yes, some things in life are simply not meant to be! Of course, it wasn’t like I had to do the preliminary shopping for a new fuel and air filter or even help install it. Mike and Greg worked on the Toro, while Nancy and I simply enjoyed the beautiful farm. I actually prefer the regular lawn mower we currently use to avoid the noise of the big Toro.
How does all this relate to the fact that some things in life are simply not meant to be? Well, think of all the surprises that come your way each day, both delightful and not so much. You have the choice of how to react to those “things” in your life. You can have a meltdown over the fiascos like Nancy does at times, or you can choose a healthier route. I remind her to put everything in perspective and laugh about how it could have been worse. Usually, we remember that some of those things that happen are just stuff, waiting to challenge us to let it all go.
Actually, some things in life just require one to figure out how to make them happen. In June, Nancy has planned a long trip to have her favorite saxophone repaired. After the COVID-19 pandemic, her reliable repair person retired, and for years, she had to postpone these repairs due to their need to move and other life circumstances. Now, with many projects to finish, practicing saxophone (and maybe bassoon) are on the horizon again.
