This morning, as I played fetch with the ball, I noticed shadows following me! Shadow is  an interesting word, as humans use them in various ways. Without a doubt, I am Nancy’s shadow. Wherever she goes, I follow her. But today, she caught my own shadow as I was fetching a ball. Did you think I set up a tripod with a camera to take these photos? Nope, it was my shadow, and Nancy took the pictures. Let’s move on from shadows for now.

As you can see, I haven’t had my winter coat shaved off yet. This week, I might get fully groomed for two reasons. First, my human taxes are done, and secondly, the weather is warmer. That’s a relief for me because there’s always a “cloud” over Nancy’s head until those taxes are signed and sent.

For now, without any cloudy thoughts or visions, let me say this: don’t let your days be filled with clouds over your heads unless the sun’s rays burst through with hope. Or maybe the clouds will sprinkle you with drops of freshness.

Most of the shadows of this life are caused by standing in one’s own sunshine.Ralph Waldo Emerson
