Today, the choices at this house are quite simple. I can either write my blog or help Nancy clean. Of course, before those choices arise, there are the usual activities: playing fetch with my orange ball and taking our walk and/or run. Then, there’s that enormous bag of lemons she brought home yesterday after her visit to her tax accountant. Perhaps we should get moving so I can write my blog while she bakes Greg’s favorite cookie. After all, I believe lemon cookies are another sign of spring, don’t you?
Sometimes, having too many choices can lead to feelings of panic and overwhelm. Just as I was about to sit down and write my blog, Nancy suddenly switched from searching for her lemon cookie recipe to flipping through Chicken Wild Rice soup recipes. What on earth is happening? Haha! I soon realized that she was procrastinating on her job to clean the house. I think if I help her plan, she can do it all, especially if I don’t add my need for a bath to her list.
I believe this always happens after she shares her tax data with the accountant. Initially, she feels a sense of relief, as if a burden has been lifted from her shoulders. However, this fleeting happiness fades as she comprehends the sacrifices she made while diligently collecting all her receipts for taxes. Now, that’s truly “taxing” if I may indulge in a pun!
