February 26, 2025

As I was dozing off on the couch today, I was delighted to hear the cheerful songs of birds. If it weren’t for the brown grass, I would have mistaken the scene for springtime.  It was then that I also recalled having my face and paws shaved yesterday, with the intention of trimming my paw toenails today.  When I complained (my rare annoyance) to Nancy, she reminded me that at least I was not needing to go and donate blood.  Yesterday, she donated blood once more, and as usual, she nearly fainted at the end of the donation. After researching her “almost” fainting episode, she concluded that she should drink more water before donating blood.

Anyway, I won’t be donating blood anytime soon, but I will be getting my paw toenails trimmed today.  Please don’t tell Greg, but I suspect Nancy will trim my toenails by the patio doors while he’s out to lunch with his brother.    You see, if my paw toenails are ground in the garage, I have to be on my grooming table.   If we are in the house, I sit in Nancy’s lap while she grinds my toenails down.   I am glad that you agree being in the house is a much better plan than the cold garage.
Perhaps this blog is TMI?   To much information  (TMI)  about every day life situations never should be hidden!   If you have not noticed, we’ve become quite comfortable in our human and dog existence around this home.   I suppose I’m trying to make this blog longer now to avoid the obvious. That being said, Nancy plans to  grind my paw toenails soon.   Just like she looks away from the needles when she donates blood, I will look away from the grinder.

  1. So sorry to hear about Nancy’s blood donation fainting episode. That must have been scary. But she’s doing something to help another person that she doesn’t even know, and I think we should commend her for that. I hope they took good care of her and that you gave her some extra love when she got home. I’m guessing she must be feeling better if she’s trimming your nails. Happy fake spring #1! I enjoy every reprieve from winter as much as the next person but have a feeling that old man winter isn’t quite finished with us yet. In the meantime, I’ll relish every moment of birds singing and the smell of spring, and hope you do too!

  2. Those toe nails really DO need trimming! Your feet look fabulous though – so nice and clean. My boys feet never look that good and they aren’t crazy about nail trims either but do put up with it quite well. Must be the good treats they get afterwards. I too have been known to be very squeamish about blood donations but once I got past the first time I did get to the point where i got the pin for the gallon donation. Don’t panic – it was over a couple of years – not all at once! Not my favorite thing but I felt good about it and I did get used to it – kind of like the nail trimming deal – just get it over with. I always say I give blood for the snacks. Not totally true but then again . . .
