Ten Days of Random Kindness, Day 10

Ten Days of Random Kindness, Day 10

It is already Day 10 of my Ten Days of Random Kindness!   Like I said earlier in this adventure, there is no particular order of importance in these Ten Days of Random Kindness. As I was taking a leisurely stroll today, it occurred to me that we desperately need perpetual kindness in our world.  It will never be enough to talk about kindness because it must be an act.

As you all know, Nancy and I have many chats every day.  Her Dad shared his concerns about her  kind heart. “You must be so careful with your kind heart and protect it.”  he told her.   I was not sure I understood this at first.  I thought I was the only one that understood her heart and that we (meaning Greg and myself) had to protect it now too.   How does this tie in to our days of random kindness???   Well, kindness is a risk, just like love.   If you are kind to someone and they don’t reciprocate, you still benefit from giving that kindness.

Since it is my last day on random kindness, let me be random.   Kindness is allowing people to be unique in their kindness.   It is learning to be kind to meet the needs of your friends and family.   Kindness does not judge your friends when they can’t feel because they are so numb to the kindness you offer.  Kindness senses when to just be there for someone.    I know this one so well with my companions.     I know Nancy so well that I can almost hear her  heart in the tone travels before they leave her heart.    That is kindness.  You understand and love someone so much that you  feel their heart and love them just where they are.

As a dog or as a human, just be kind.  If you don’t know kindness, start by listening.  Listening accomplishes far more than  speaking.    Be kind ….. please, let’s save this earth by being kind one dog and one human at a time……..

“Too often we underestimate

the power of a touch, a smile,

a kind word, a listening ear,

an honest compliment,

or the smallest act of caring,

all of which have the potential

to turn a life around.”

– Leo Buscagli

  1. Thank you Harmony for the beautiful inspiration, as always! I just love the reminders and reflections of the simple things we can do that make life so wonderful for ourselves and others. Even when it feels like there isn’t a minute to breathe, reflections like these provide such grounding. Thank you and I hope your week is filled with kindness and joy!
