Spotlights: May 26, 2022
Have you ever had that moment when you realize someone isn’t taking a photo of you, but the object behind you? It is very much like when someone shows up at your front door and you are like, oh you! But, you don’t want to hurt their feelings so you say, Oh HI, I had no idea you were going to stop and visit. Then, I look and don’t see any type of dog treats, so I bark at them until they politely say, “Sorry, I have to get going now.” I know, who needs a security system when us dogs can size up anyone coming to the door? Now, back to the object behind me. It is a Japanese Maple tree that Greg planted about 10 years ago. It is quite pretty, don’t you think?!
That brings me to my similar topic of not being in the spotlight. My mission has never been to be in the spotlight. For this reason, I was rather happy to retire from being a show dog, even though I was surrounded by my lovely breeder and other dogs all of those first years. I suppose I could have used the spotlight to promote kindness, discipline and grace since that is what I learned from Jill. Now, on those rare occasions when someone notices my demeanor, the credit is always given to Jill from Musique Standard Poodles. Because I learned to be such a “good dog” from Jill, Nancy refuses to take credit for my character. It is pretty easy to remain a “good dog” when I am so terribly spoiled, however.
Tonight, I think it is going to be a homemade pizza night. So, let me take this opportunity to spotlight Greg’s talents with his woodturning of the pizza cutter shown below. That certainly is a good reason to make pizza so we can try out the new pizza cutter. Pizza night usually means Minnesota Twin’s baseball game time too. I wonder who will be the SPOTLIGHT of the baseball game tonight??? Do you like being in the spotlight?
