August 23, 2021

I really love my life!   How many dogs can say that they leisurely can sit on the hillside waiting for the mail person?  Well, this dog can and as the photos display, we often do just that.   We sit and listen to the birds and sometimes noisy traffic nearby.  Sure, we often are trying to make sure we reach those 10,000 steps a day; but, more importantly, we stroll as if time does not matter.   When life gets so busy that you can’t take time for shorter walks after your long morning walk, well then, make time silly.

You know that saying “you get what you pay for” well, I am afraid that is true when it comes to good bird food.   Recently, Nancy chose to purchase   much cheaper bird food and yup, you guessed it, not near as many birds are visiting us.   I suppose they will eventually stop by; but, seriously, what was she thinking?  Then, you wonder why we have to go elsewhere to hear birds singing?!

It sure is the little things in life, isn’t it?   I don’t need fancy dog treats or expensive food to love life.   In fact, I rarely get dog treats because I much prefer to be with my humans.  That is a treat in itself.  No, I was not given a treat to say that either!  In fact, I have been working overtime lately as Nancy’s therapy dog.   We really understand each other and I must say, she has not had a very good month.  She said she will only talk about it in her music – I am listening.   I hope all of you know how to channel your emotions into a positive direction.

  1. Harmony. I bet the reason you don’t need treats is because Nancy (your human) is a treat in herself. Every dog should have a human like Nancy. I see her as a treat as my friend.
It is really nice that you can hear the birds when you don’t have your headphones on, and it is nice that we can Channel through music or whatever it might be (devotionals, prayer). But the simple things in life it should definitely be our focus and seeking the path of righteousness God always provides. I pray you feel the blessings today as you sit and wait on the mailman. And PS I love the pictures. It’s good to see you both 🙂

  2. I love the pictures Harmony! Cherishing the simple things in life, like waiting for the mailman, or other things we often take for granted, is something I think many people decided (after the pandemic forced them to slow down) they wanted more of. I know many have not packed their lives quite as full so they could enjoy some of the simple pleasures. I’m sorry to hear that Nancy has had a difficult August. Events in themselves are not good or bad, but as humans, we assign the “value” (good/bad/lucky/unfortunate) to them. Of course, you as a dog, are probably well aware of this. Sometimes it’s REALLY hard to not attach value to those events, to find or understand the blessings in a life situation, or we have to wait a very long time to be able to more fully realize it. Until that moment of clarity, it is SO very important to have pets/people who will listen, and various channels of release/processing for all those emotions. Here’s hoping that the days and weeks ahead are much less difficult and filled with many blessings!
