Fun Mother’s Day: May 12, 2021

Fun Mother’s Day: May 12, 2021

Ooh, la, la, we had a French Bulldog (Frenchie) visit us with our wonderful Mother’s Day group this year.  I finally was able to meet Nancy’s niece’s French Bulldog (Frenchie), Brie.  Since I was not too accustomed to this breed, I had to google French Bulldog.    According to the AKC Kennel Club, I think this describes my new friend exactly how I find her: “The bright, affectionate Frenchie is a charmer. Dogs of few words, Frenchies don’t bark much—but their alertness makes them excellent watchdogs. They happily adapt to life with singles, couples, or families, and do not require a lot of outdoor exercise. They get on well with other animals and enjoy making new friends of the human variety. It is no wonder that city folk from Paris to Peoria swear by this vastly amusing and companionable breed.”   Brie really has that “charmer” characteristic mastered!   Every time Nancy would sit on the floor with me, she came over to snuggle too.

Since it was Mother’s Day, we (meaning myself and Brie)  tried not to draw attention to our cuteness.  After all, Mother’s Day is obviously all about the great Moms in our lives.  While everyone was eating or playing card games, Brie and I just did our own thing.    What?  You have to ask what our own thing is?  Then, you don’t know us dogs.   We just listened to the human’s blah blah and more blahs  and ran outside often. Once I realized that Brie was fine with me not needing to entertain her, we relaxed into our dog routine of chilling out.

I love having visitors especially when they bring their dogs.  But hey, you are welcome even if you don’t bring a dog (just saying!).  On Monday, we had our neighbors down the road visit with 2 of their 3 dogs and again, I had such a blast. (More about them in a future blog.)    My, oh my, at the rate I am having visitors around here, I might have to start using a datebook?     NO, that is not how us dogs work…..we welcome everyone, anytime!
