Happy Valentine’s Day to all of my blog readers! Valentine’s Day is all about Love, so I find it is a perfect day to get out of my recent writer’s block and share what I have learned about love. I think you humans call it “unconditional love” and us dogs call it the only LOVE we have learned. You see, if you have not noticed, I am constantly mesmerized by how love works around all of us. When we grasp on to what we need or want instead of what others need, we lose the essential part of love. Often, when I focus on my human’s needs instead of my own, I truly feel the love that I am meant to share on this earth. Josh Billings says “A Dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than you love yourself.”
Actually, I don’t often contemplate the subject of love around here; I just try to live it! While I will admit, I don’t have much choice to venture out of this home, I don’t think I would want it anyway else. We get to love from our humans and our siblings in unique ways. Basically, we don’t ever have to worry about being LOVED here, it just happens. That’s it….LOVE is being loved no matter who we are and no matter how we display our love. We love from our silence to our rambunctious moments of play. We love to listen and we even humor our humans by making them think we understand.
So allow me to finish with a quote from Leo Buscaglia: “Don’t brood. Get on with living and loving. You don’t have forever.” Happy Valentine’s Day weekend!
