Football or not? January 19, 2018

While many of you are anticipating  the Minnesota Viking  NFL playoff   game this Sunday, I am eagerly awaiting more predictable outcomes for myself.  Such things like knowing that I will finally  get my toenails ground down tomorrow after Nancy shaved my paws.  She had to shave my paws  so that she could actually see my toenails.   Just so we are clear on this – I am not saying that is MORE important than your Minnesota Viking’s game this Sunday, I just write in my blog as I see it from a dog’s perspective on your human lives.   You don’t see me tackling other dogs to get the ball when playing fetch, now do you?   Hmmmm…..but, I must say, that Harmony has successfully tackled me for the ball in the snow, so I think she has been watching that human football – ARGH!  Now look what you humans have done!   I sure did not teach her to be like a football player!?   Oh well, I am  just glad that the little princess feels she can be whatever she wants to be!

The bitter cold weather has dissipated for now while the warmer weather brings hope to both us dogs and you humans!    I don’t do so well when I don’t get my walks.   Not only do I need the exercise for my older body, I  like my time alone with Nancy.  As you know, us dogs don’t  have to say much because we are programmed to be better listeners than you humans. Yet,  Nancy does listen to my advice when we are out walking (when I feel she is open to it, that is).  What is it about walking anyhow that gets us all unwinding, both physically and mentally?     I am sure I don’t need to tell you to get out and walk instead of reading my silly blog!

I hope you are all having a great weekend!  Life is short, so let the “fumbles” just fall and keep focusing on your progress.   As Nancy’s brother Rick says, “Celebrate Progress” and she would say now JUST  go practice!    Yeh, she probably will practice saxophone or bassoon during the Sunday game – guess where I will be?

  1. Louie, you won’t be the only one not involved in all the football hoopla now and coming up. A mini and a golden retriever will be doing other things with their humans. Might not be nail clipping but then again, you never know. The mini’s human is not nearly as good at grooming as Louie’s is and after about 15 years STILL can’t do feet very well. Maybe that’s one of those “fumbles” you mentioned, which we all have and need to get past. Any forward progress should count as a victory. That’s my story and I’m stickin to it!

    1. Mary, I hope to meet your mini poodle and golden retriever in 2018. Don’t be so hard on yourself about your grooming because my owner certainly could use a lot more training – good thing I am not too fussy, now that I am older! Thanks for reading my blog.
