Yesterday, I witnessed a cookie factory of sorts right before my very eyes, only to realize that the cookies being made were NOT for me! Yes, you read that right, they were being made for humans only. Now, I don’t ask for much in this dog life, but I would appreciate some new cookies around here for me! Maybe someone reading my blog could send my owner a dog friendly cookie recipe?
As I was watching this rather tedious task of making those sugar cookies, I began to wonder why Nancy even makes those interesting cookies.? You probably already guessed it; I had to sit and listen to her ramble on and on about the memories of past and how this cookie project always blesses her. After Nancy’s Mom would make dozens of sugar cookies, she would let Nancy and her siblings decorate them on their kitchen table. Then, after decorating for about 10 minutes, the brothers never lasted long or Nancy “fired” them for their poor decorating. I learned that is why Nancy likes to bake – because she has such fond memories of baking at home on the farm as a kid with her Mom. There is something about certain projects that seem to leave you humans in that state of contentment. I notice it when Nancy is making those sugar cookies. She explains it as another form of healthy therapy and I am like HELLO, what about us and our cookies – You see, I am quite self-absorbed, aren’t I? But, let’s save that topic for another day!
You see, us dogs don’t expect much for Christmas because to us, every day is the same. I think you humans could learn a great deal from our philosophy about every day being fabulous, don’t you?! Don’t get me wrong, I even enjoy the sparkling lights blinking on the fireplace mantle and the change of scenery in the house from other Christmas decor, but I really just want life to continue like it has been for my last ten years here. Yup, I am just one content dog and of course, Lighthearted Louie, just trying to help my owners learn the art of Lighthearted Living! Now, feel free to stop over and have a sugar cookie or two and I would appreciate it if you bring me a Christmas dog cookie! (told you, I am rather self-absorbed 🙂
